Inspection & Testing

EICR

TnC-S provides electrical testing and condition reports (EICR) for all sectors, domestic, commercial and industrial. If required for a house sale, purchase, landlord, insurance purposes or peace of mind.

Electrical systems deteriorate over time with insulation losing its resistance value and creating issues that can not be seen to the eye. Ageing installations were not provided with the safety devices that are now deployed across the industry, providing a lower level of electrical safety throughout your property or business. Each time they revise the BS7671 wiring regulations, and a new edition currently the 18th edition, produced it improves the overall safety of new electrical installations. Existing installations that are not regularly inspected and tested understandably tend to fall quickly below the high safety levels of new installations.

Regular electrical testing has for many years been given less importance than required. Given the impact, electricity has on statistics surrounding house fires either directly, or through an appliance, it’s important to ensure your systems are safe for continued use.

You can find these statistics on the Electrical safety first website here. Regular EICR’s can help to identify potential issues and help prevent the worrying figures from increasing.

New English legislation has been brought into effect on July 1st 2020 for new tenancies and 1st April 2021 for existing tenants, to ensure private landlords in England are maintaining electrical installations within the properties. Failure to comply can see fines of up to £30,000 implemented on the property owner/landlord. For more information, please see here.
